About Us

What is the Parents Association?

Atwood Primary School Parents Association is a fun, sociable, charitable organisation. Our main aim is to raise funds for the school to purchase equipment and facilities that the school could not otherwise afford to buy. We are a charitable organisation (charity no:1112103).

Who are we?

We're made up of parents, teachers and governors. Membership begins TODAY and ends when your last child leaves the school. You have unlimited access to all the formal and informal PA meetings and an open invitation to get involved and volunteer for as many of the fund raising events as you would like.

If you are a parent of a child at Atwood Primary you're automatically a member of the PA! There's no joining fee, no monthly direct debit, just automatic inclusion into an organisation that works to make things better for your child.

What can I do to help?

We need people who have special skills from all year groups to help the PA. Can you make coffee? Can you pour wine? Can you wire a plug? Count money? Keep spirits from flagging when it's nearly midnight and the kitchen needs to be tidied after an event? There's a huge variety of ways you can be part of the PA - either as a committee member or on an ad hoc basis at different events.

So what else do we do?
Due to the hard work and dedication of everyone at the school, in 2008/2009 we raised over £xxxx from various events and sales held throughout the year. Our main focus, along with the Govenors and Staff, has been the new library.

But it's not just the big projects - in the last few years the PA has also funded:
  •  £8,900 for new lap top in each class a total of 17
  • £16,000 toward the new library building
  • £1300 for bench seating in the playgrounds
  • £200 per year for year 6 leavers dictionaries
 Past contributions made to the
  • Music Suite
  • Changing Huts
  • Trim Trail
What are we working towards?

This is the fun bit! At the beginning of the year, Mr Clark puts together a wish list of items needed for the school and the committee decides which items they want to purchase using PA funding. The focus for this year's fund-raising (2010) will be discussed in the PA meetings at the beginning of this term - please feel free to come along, everyone is welcome! For meeting dates, visit our EVENTS Page.

There's loads to see on our website. If you need info on any of the fairs, want to see who's on the PA committee or need some class repping top tips, visit our new informative pages. Alternatively, visit the PA Shop where you can visit one of our many linked sites, each of the companies who sell their wares give a generous percentage of the sales made through Atwood Primary PA to our fund.
We welcome new ideas and would love
to hear from you and are always on the look out for new members, whether you wish to join the committee as a permanent member or to take on events or fundraising on an adhoc basis.
